UPDATE: Pedestrian dies after hit-and-run crash near Albuquerque shopping center

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — One person lost their life Wednesday evening after being struck by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene in north Albuquerque, reports KOB4.

The fatal incident took place at the corner of Fourth Street and Guadalupe Trail Northwest, just south of the Smith’s store in the Guadalupe Plaza shopping center. Albuquerque Police responded to the scene shortly after 7:30 p.m.

Details remain limited, but the victim was said to have been hit by a vehicle that continued away from the scene without stopping.

Responding crews worked to save the victim, but the patient succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

While the APD has not released a description of the fleeing vehicle, an investigation remains open and ongoing.

Several vehicles involved in crash on NM-47 near Valencia

VALENCIA COUNTY, NM — Part of New Mexico State Road 47 was closed Thursday evening near Valencia following a multi-vehicle wreck, reports KOAT.

The collision took place at the intersection with Virgil Road (El Cerrito Loop/NM-263), near Valencia El Cerrito Fire Department, east of Los Lunas. It was first reported by KOAT some time before 7:40 p.m., when the highway had already reopened after a two-way closure.

As of this writing, no information about the cause of the accident or the involved parties has been released, but Valencia County Fire Department crews were dispatched to the scene, where several vehicles were involved.

Part of the highway was blocked in both directions during the emergency response and initial investigation, but it’s unclear whether anyone was seriously hurt.

 

Crews respond to rollover CMV crash on I-25 NB in Las Cruces

DOÑA ANA COUNTY, NM — A commercial motor vehicle overturned during a crash Tuesday morning on Interstate 25 in Las Cruces, according to the New Mexico Department of Transportation.

The incident unfolded on the northbound lanes of I-25 approaching Exit 3 to East Lohman Avenue, near the Mesilla Valley Mall. It was first recorded by NMDOT at 9:55 a.m.

Little information has been made available at this time, but rollover collision forced traffic to divert onto Telshor Boulevard, as all northbound lanes were shut down.

Commuters were urged to slow down and use extra caution as they approached the scene, where emergency crews were working. Delays were anticipated in the area.


As of this writing, it remains unclear whether anyone was seriously injured or had to be taken to a hospital.
