UPDATE: Authorities ID victim fatally hit by train in SW Las Cruces

DOÑA ANA COUNTY, NM — Officials continue to investigate following a fatal pedestrian crash involving a train Sunday afternoon in southwest Las Cruces, reports KOAT.

The Las Cruces Police Department said the incident occurred near Lohman Avenue and Amador Avenue at around 2:00 p.m.

While the circumstances behind the event remain undisclosed, Ryan Carl, 42, has been identified as the pedestrian who was hit and killed by a northbound train.

Several train crossings between Amador Avenue and Avenida de Mesilla were blocked off following the incident. Motorists were asked to avoid the area and find alternate paths.

No other injuries were reported in connection to the crash.
