Motorcyclist dies following crash on S Main St in Las Cruces

DOÑA ANA COUNTY, NM — A motorcycle accident early Monday in Las Cruces claimed the life of a 24-year-old man, according to KTSM.

The fatal crash, which happened on South Main Street near Wyatt Drive, prompted a response from Las Cruces Police and fire officials at about 3:30 a.m.

Preliminary details indicate that the young man, Christian Joe Franco, was operating a motorcycle northbound on the road when, for reasons still being investigated, he lost control of the bike, causing a crash.

Franco, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, died from his injuries.

No other vehicles appear to have been involved, and no other injuries were reported.

Authorities had part of the intersection shut down during the emergency response and investigation, which remains ongoing.
