SANDOVAL COUNTY, NM — Authorities were called to the scene of a wreck Wednesday afternoon on Southern Boulevard in Rio Rancho, according to the Rio Rancho Police Department.
The accident forced a section of the road to close between Nicklaus Drive Southeast and Golf Course Road Southeast. It was first tweeted by the RRPD at 2:43 p.m., when officers had already arrived on the scene.
Department officials have not provided any information regarding the nature of the crash or the involved parties, but the closure was enforced for over three hours as an investigation was conducted.
Motorists were asked to seek alternate routes around the area.

Southern Blvd is closed in both directions between Nicklaus and Golf Course due to a crash investigation. Please find an alternate route of travel. We will update once the roadway is open. Thank you.

By 5:48 p.m., the scene had been cleared and the roadway was reopened to the public.
