Person injured in apparent jump from overpass, crash in east Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — One person was hospitalized Wednesday morning after a pedestrian incident on Interstate 40 in east Albuquerque, according to KOAT.

The events unfolded on the westbound lanes of I-40 at Exit 166 to Juan Tabo Boulevard Northeast. It was not immediately clear when the incident occurred, but KOAT updated shortly before 11:30 a.m. that the scene had cleared.

Preliminary details from the Albuquerque Police Department indicate a person may have leapt off an overpass and was subsequently hit by a vehicle.

The victim, who suffered unspecified injuries, was rushed to a local hospital. No information with regards to their identity or condition has been disclosed at this time.

Motorists were warned of delays in the area as authorities closed a section of I-40 westbound for an investigation.
