Pedestrian hit, killed by vehicle on Second St near South Valley

BERNALILLO COUNTY, NM — One person died Wednesday morning after being struck by a vehicle on Second Street near South Valley, according to KOAT.

The fatal incident occurred on a span of the road (New Mexico State Road 303) at Bowers Road. It was first reported by KOAT at 7:35 a.m., when Bernalillo County deputies had already arrived on the scene.

Officials have not released any information indicating the circumstances of the event, but the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A section of Second Street was shut down in both directions during the emergency response and initial investigation.

The sheriff’s office has not said whether the driver remained at the scene, and no charges have been reported at this time.
