Pedestrian fatally hit by vehicle on I-25 NB near Jefferson Commons

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — One person died Thursday evening after a pedestrian crash on Interstate 25 in northeast Albuquerque, according to KOB4.

The fatal incident took place on the northbound lanes at Exit 229 to Jefferson Street Northeast, near the Jefferson Commons area. It was first reported by KOB4 at 6:21 p.m.

Authorities have not disclosed the circumstances of the event, but preliminary details indicate the victim died at the scene after being struck by a vehicle.

All northbound lanes of I-25 were closed in the immediate aftermath. Albuquerque Police officers were re-routing traffic onto Montaño Road Northeast/Montgomery Boulevard Northeast.

By 8:30 p.m., all lanes had been reopened to the public.

At this time, no identifying information has been released. It remains unclear whether the driver stayed after the crash or fled the scene. No charges have been reported.
