ALBUQUERQUE, NM — One person was killed Saturday afternoon when a stolen vehicle hit another car in east Albuquerque, according to KOAT.

Albuquerque Police said the fatal wreck occurred at the intersection of Bell Avenue and Cardenas Drive Southeast, in the city’s South San Pedro area.

The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation, but a vehicle that was reported stolen ran a stop sign and collided with another car, causing fatal injuries to the stolen vehicle’s front seat passenger.

An updated news release issued by the APD said the driver of the stolen car was not in custody following the collision, indicating a hit-and-run.

Preliminary details show speed to have been a factor in the crash, but investigators say alcohol and drugs are not suspected contributors.
