MCKINLEY COUNTY, NM — A 50-year-old man was killed Saturday in a single-vehicle rollover wreck on Interstate 40 near Jamestown, reports KRQE.

The fatal collision occurred on the eastbound side of I-40 near mile marker 39, in an area southeast of Gallup.

An early investigation by New Mexico State Police shows a 2003 Chevy pickup truck was traveling eastbound on I-40, when, for reasons still unclear, it entered the median and then overturned onto 6 Mile Canyon Road.

The victim, who was a passenger in the pickup, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Emergency responders transported the driver and one other passenger to a local hospital with unspecified injuries.

No further details have been provided at this time, but officials said intoxication is not believed to be a factor in the crash. No charges have been reported as of this writing.
