ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A two-vehicle wreck involving a DWI suspect early Sunday in northeast Albuquerque has claimed the life of a passenger, according to KOAT.
Albuquerque Police said the fatal accident took place on a stretch of Paseo Del Norte Boulevard Northeast near the Interstate 25 southbound entrance ramp. Officers were dispatched to the scene sometime after 12:00 a.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates a Ford Focus was heading westbound on Paseo Del Norte Boulevard when its driver observed the headlights of an oncoming Honda, which was traveling in the wrong direction. Authorities said the Ford driver tried to quickly change lanes to avoid a crash, but the Honda driver also tried to change lanes at the same time. As a result, the two vehicles collided.
A passenger in the Ford was pronounced deceased by first responders at the scene.
Both drivers were transported to an area hospital where their conditions remain undisclosed. Officers noted that the driver of the Honda displayed signs of impairment at the time of the wreck.
The APD’s Fatal Crash Unit is handling an investigation.
BERNALILLO COUNTY, NM — Deputies responded to a rollover collision early Monday on Paseo Del Norte Boulevard near north Albuquerque, according to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office.
The wreck occurred on the eastbound road’s (New Mexico State Road 423) exit ramp to 2nd Street Northwest (NM-47), in the Los Ranchos de Albuquerque area. It was first reported by the BCSO at 12:28 a.m. when deputies had already arrived on the scene.
Little information has been made available, but at the time of the initial report, the offramp was shut down and motorists were asked to find alternate routes.
Deputies are on the scene of a rollover crash on eastbound Paseo Del Norte and 2nd St. No injuries reported, but the exit ramp is currently closed. Please seek an alternate route.

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — One person was sent to a hospital last Tuesday, January 16, after crashing their car into a restaurant in east Albuquerque, according to KRQE.
Photos taken at the scene indicate the accident occurred at the drive-through of Teriyaki Chicken Bowl, located off Juan Tabo Boulevard Northeast, north of Constitution Avenue.
It remains unclear what led up to the wreck, but Albuquerque Fire Rescue officials said the vehicle overturned and then struck the building.
Responding crews had to cut through the rolled car’s windshield in order to access the driver, who was left trapped inside. The patient was then transported to an area hospital for minor injuries.
No other people or vehicles appear to have been involved in the incident.
