NMSP responds to fatal crash on NM-602 in SW McKinley County

MCKINLEY COUNTY, NM — At least one person died Tuesday morning after a crash on New Mexico State Road 602 near south Vanderwagen, according to KRQE.

The fatal accident happened at mile marker 7, about a mile and a half south of Bronco Road. It was first reported by KRQE at 11:47 a.m.

Very few details have been provided at this time, but New Mexico State Police said all lanes of NM-602 south of Gallup were blocked in the immediate aftermath.

Motorists were instructed to find alternate routes, as Zuni Police were at the scene handling the investigation.

At this time, authorities have not said what caused the wreck or indicated the number of involved vehicles.
