Multiple fatalities reported after crash on I-40 near Route 66 Casino Hotel

BERNALILLO COUNTY, NM — At least two people were killed early Thursday due to a collision on Interstate 40 near Route 66 Casino Hotel in far west Albuquerque, according to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office.

The fatal crash unfolded on the eastbound lanes near mile marker 140 and was first reported by the BCSO at 3:48 a.m., when deputies and first responders had already arrived at the scene.

Officials have not shared additional information indicating a sequence of events or the number of vehicles involved, but motorists were instructed to avoid the area.

At the time of the initial report a section of eastbound I-40 was shut down, as well as the far left westbound lane.

APD responds to accident on I-40 EB near West Old Town

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A vehicle crash was reported Thursday morning on Interstate 40 near Albuquerque’s West Old Town area, according to APD Traffic.

The collision took place on the eastbound interstate at Exit 157A to Rio Grande Boulevard Northwest. Albuquerque Police responded to the scene at around 8:44 a.m.

Following the incident, the department has not released a statement about the cause or nature of the accident.

Officials have not confirmed the number of parties involved or whether anyone was seriously injured.

At least 1 left injured following wreck on NM-337 near SE Tijeras

BERNALILLO COUNTY, NM — Injuries were reported Wednesday morning after a collision on New Mexico State Road 337 near southeast Tijeras, according to KKOB Traffic.

Authorities were called to the scene at Raven Road, near Carolino Canyon Open Space, at about 6:44 a.m.

The circumstances of the event have not been disclosed but officials confirmed that at least one person suffered injuries.

At the time of the initial report, all lanes in both directions were shut down and motorists were asked to take NM-217 instead.
