Hit-and-run driver sought after causing damage at Lake Carlsbad Golf Course

EDDY COUNTY, NM — Property damage was reported Tuesday, September 5, after a vehicle drove on the greens and damaged two holes at Lake Carlsbad Golf Course in northeast Carlsbad, reports KOAT.

Carlsbad Police responded to the scene off Muscatel Avenue and were told by a witness that a pickup truck had traveled onto the greens and destroyed the course’s Number 9 and 15 holes. The vehicle then left the scene.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Authorities have not released any further information or a description of the fleeing vehicle, but the cost in damages to the course is estimated to total between $50,000 and $70,000.
