ALBUQUERQUE, NM — One person died late Saturday night after a single-car rollover wreck off Pan American Freeway in northeast Albuquerque, reports KRQE.

The fatal accident occurred on the northbound freeway’s frontage road approaching Alameda Boulevard Northeast. Albuquerque Police said the department’s motors unit was called to the scene just after 10:50 p.m.

It was unclear what prompted the crash, but preliminary details indicate the victim was driving northbound when their vehicle veered off the roadway and overturned.

The driver, whose identity was not immediately disclosed, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

No other injuries were reported in the event.

Authorities had part of the area closed as an initial investigation was conducted. According to the APD, speed and alcohol appear to have contributed to the crash.
