Crews called to collision on I-40 WB in central McKinley County

MCKINLEY COUNTY, NM — A vehicle accident was reported Friday morning on the median of Interstate 40 near the city of Coolidge, according to NM Roads.

The wreck occurred on the westbound side of I-40 at mile marker 43, in an area about 17 miles southeast of Gallup. It was first recorded by in the NM Roads map index at 10:12 a.m.

Few details have been made available, but motorists were instructed to approach the area with extra caution as first responders and emergency vehicles responded to the scene. Debris was also observed in the roadway.

As of this writing, officials have not disclosed the cause of the accident or the types of vehicles involved.

No major injuries have been confirmed at this time.
