ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A serious collision Tuesday afternoon closed part of southbound Interstate 25 in south Albuquerque, according to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident was reported on the southbound lanes near Exit 220 to Rio Bravo Boulevard Southeast (NM-500), in the San Jose area west of Albuquerque International Sunport. Dispatchers first received the call shortly before 3:21 p.m.
Authorities have not said what led up to the wreck, but medical personnel joined BCSO deputies at the scene, suggesting possible injuries.
Motorists were warned of heavy delays in the area, as all southbound lanes of I-25 were blocked. Alternate routes were recommended.
