ESPANOLA, NM – According to Yahoo! News, a man has been charged for a fatal hit-and-run crash that happened on El Llano Rd in Dec. 2021.
Daniel Patricio Romero, 42, was allegedly driving a stolen red pickup truck when he collided with Mario Armando Rascon-Estrada. Following the collision, Romero continued driving, dragging Rascon-Estrada into a fence. Romero then abandoned the truck several blocks away from the crash.
Officers determined that Romero was driving at 53 mph in a 35 mph zone when he struck Rascon-Estrada.
Investigators took DNA samples from Romero while he was in jail and matched them to DNA found in the truck.
Authorities charged Romero with homicide by vehicle, knowingly leaving the scene of an accident, and tampering with evidence on Monday.
1 dead following wrong-way crash on U.S. 285 near Santa Fe
SANTA FE, NM – A driver died following a wrong-way collision on U.S. 285 SB on March 7, according to Yahoo! News.
Christopher Alyam-Moser, 71, was driving a Toyota Rav4 without headlights north in the southbound lane when he slammed head-on into a Volkswagen SUV operated by Matthew Paulazzo, 31, around 7:30 p.m.
Rescue crews pronounced Alyam-Moser dead at the scene and transported Palazzo to an area hospital with a fractured pelvis, broken ankle, broken wrist, internal bleeding, and a dislocated rib.
It is unclear if impairment played a role in the crash.
Crash reported on U.S. 70 in Las Cruces
LAS CRUCES, NM – According to NMRoads, a crash was reported on U.S. 70 E.B. at mile marker 155 on Thursday.
The incident happened around 11:20 a.m.
It is unclear if anyone was hurt in the wreck.
