Accident shuts down part of NM-28 in south La Mesa

DOÑA ANA COUNTY, NM — Emergency crews were called to a crash last Friday afternoon, August 11, that closed a section of New Mexico State Road 28 in south La Mesa, according to the New Mexico Department of Transportation.

The collision occurred on a span of NM-28 between mileposts 12 and 13. It was first recorded by NMDOT at 1:46 p.m.

The cause of the accident was not specified, but NM-28 was blocked in both directions, with detours established at Sloan Road and Veterans Road.

Motorists were urged to slow down and approach the scene with extra caution. Delays were expected in the area.
