Accident closes two lanes on I-25 in SE Sandoval County

SANDOVAL COUNTY, NM — Authorities responded to a vehicle crash early Thursday evening on Interstate 25 near Bernalillo, according to the New Mexico Department of Transportation.

The collision occurred on the northbound lanes of I-25 approaching Exit 240 to East Avenida Bernalillo. It was first reported by NMDOT officials at 5:12 p.m.

Very few details have been made available at this time, but two northbound lanes of I-25 were blocked in the immediate aftermath.

A photo taken at the scene shows a traffic backup forming in the area. Motorists were warned of delays and advised to find alternate routes.

It remains unclear what led up to the wreck, how many vehicles were involved, and whether anyone was seriously hurt.
