LEA COUNTY, NM — Emergency crews responded to a motor vehicle crash Friday morning on New Mexico State Road 128 near Jal, according to NM Roads.
The collision occurred at mile marker 51, near the intersection with Wyoming Road, about one mile northwest of the city. It was first recorded in the NM Roads map index at 6:18 a.m.
Very few details have been provided, but authorities said NM-128 was shut down in both directions as first responders and traffic control crews worked the scene.
Motorists were urged to slow down in the area and advised to find alternate routes. Delays were expected.
The scene remained active as of 12:45 p.m. more than six hours, suggesting a major accident.
