CIBOLA COUNTY, NM — Two commercial motor vehicles were involved in a collision late Tuesday morning on Interstate 40 near east Grants, according to NM Roads.

Officials said the accident impacted the westbound side of I-40 at mile marker 106, in an area about 21 miles east of the city.

While it was not immediately apparent what caused the crash, the two CMVs were reportedly blocking the shoulder in the immediate aftermath.

Motorists were warned of delays, as at the time of the initial report, a traffic backup had extended past mile marker 108.

As of 1:20 p.m., more than 1.5 hours later, no updates on the scene conditions have been issued, suggesting a more involved emergency response.

Local agencies have not confirmed any serious injuries at this time.
