BERNALILLO COUNTY, NM – A 66-year-old man died Friday night after a rollover crash involving a DWI suspect near Isleta Pueblo that left two others, including a juvenile, injured, reports KOB4.

New Mexico State Police said the fatal collision occurred on a span of Interstate 25.

According to an early investigation, a vehicle driven by Jonathan Lujan, 22, rear-ended a pickup truck, causing the second vehicle to overturn.

The driver of the pickup, Hector Beltran, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His two passengers, a 39-year-old woman and a 10-year-old girl, suffered unspecified injuries. Both were transported to an area hospital where the severity of their conditions remains unknown.

An investigation remains ongoing, but NMSP said alcohol and speed are suspected factors in the incident. Authorities noted that the event marks Lujan’s second DWI within the last two months. A judge had ordered him not to consume alcohol just the week prior.

The suspect has since been booked into jail. Charges filed against him include “homicide by vehicle.”
