1 killed in high-speed crash at NW Albuquerque intersection

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A driver ran a red light at a northwest Albuquerque intersection Saturday, which resulted in a crash and the death of a another person, according to KOAT.

The fatal collision unfolded on Coors Boulevard Northwest at Sevilla Avenue Northwest, in the La Luz Del Sol neighborhood.

Albuquerque Police said a Ford Mustang, identified as Isaiah Sena, was heading northbound on Coors Boulevard when it approached another vehicle. Sena, who, according to the driver of that other vehicle, appeared like he wanted to race, drove past the second vehicle.

Moments after running a red light at the intersection, the Mustang collided with a Ford Edge that was turning left onto southbound Coors Boulevard during a green light. The impact of the crash sent both cars spinning into southbound Coors Boulevard.

First responders pronounced the driver of the Ford Edge deceased at the scene.

Sena, who suffered injuries considered non-life-threatening, was taken to an area hospital. He as since been charged with “homicide by vehicle and reckless driving.”

No further details have been made available.

 

APD responds to collision on I-25 NB near Sunport

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Albuquerque Police were dispatched to a crash Sunday afternoon on Interstate 25 in south Albuquerque’s San Jose area, according to APD Traffic.

The accident took place on the northbound side of I-25 at Exit 221 to Sunport Boulevard, near Albuquerque International Sunport. Officers arrived at the scene at around 1:45 p.m.

As of this writing, the department has not disclosed any information about the circumstances of the event, or the number and types of vehicles involved.


Officials have also not confirmed any charges or whether anyone was injured and/or had to be taken to a hospital.

 

Collision reported on I-25 NB at Jefferson St. NE

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Albuquerque Police responded to a crash early Monday on Interstate 25 near northeast Albuquerque’s Jefferson Commons area, according to APD Traffic.

The accident impacted the northbound lanes of I-25 at Jefferson Street Northeast (Exit 229) and was first reported some time before 1:30 a.m.

Following the crash, the APD has not released a sequence of events or a statement about the parties involved.


Officials have not confirmed any significant injuries or hospital transports from the scene.
