ALBUQUERQUE, NM – a young girl tragically succumbed injuries sustained in a crash involving a stolen vehicle in southeast Albuquerque last month.
According to KOAT, the incident took place on March 27, when John Bearden Jr. allegedly stole a Chevy SUV that belonged to the State of New Mexico from the New Mexico Fairgrounds. Police state that Bearden disregarded a stop sign at a high speed, resulting in a collision with another SUV near Bell Avenue and San Pedro Drive.
The individuals in the other vehicle involved in the crash were identified as 43-year-old David Pizarro and his 10-year-old daughter. Both were taken to a local hospital for medical treatment. Unfortunately, the young girl succumbed to her injuries and passed away on Sunday, April 16th, as confirmed by her family.
Bearden is currently in custody and will remain in jail until his trial on various charges, including leaving the scene of a crash with serious physical injury and causing great bodily harm by vehicle.
