Andy Kessel

As a native New Mexican deeply rooted in my community, I was shaped by my early years in Carlsbad, where I enjoyed Boy Scouts, camping, and fishing along the Pecos River. My mother, a teacher, and my father, an engineer at the labs, instilled in me a lifelong love of learning.

That dedication to learning led me to graduate summa cum laude from Pusan National University’s Department of Economics and International Trade in Busan, South Korea. I am now continuing my education as a law student at the University of New Mexico School of Law, having just completed my first year.

As a law clerk, I am committed to helping those who have been wrongfully injured. This motivation is grounded in my deeply held belief in giving back to my community. I believe the law offers a powerful means to make meaningful, lasting change for individuals and for New Mexico as a whole. Every day, I strive to serve those in need with dedication and compassion.

My professional philosophy is guided by core values such as family, empathy, and standing up for what is right. I aspire to “bear the shield” in service of New Mexicans, reflecting my commitment to advocacy and justice.

Outside of work, I enjoy hiking with my dog, playing guitar, working on my truck, cooking on the grill, and playing board games with loved ones.
