ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A man died Saturday morning after a two-vehicle wreck in northwest Albuquerque’s Ladera West neighborhood, reports KOB4.
Albuquerque Police said the fatal accident occurred on Unser Boulevard (New Mexico State Road 345) at Vista Alegre Street, at about 7:00 a.m.
An APD officer who witnessed the crash said he observed a gold 1997 Toyota Camry make a left from Vista Alegre and begin driving southbound on northbound Unser Boulevard. As the officer began to call for backup, the Toyota collided head-on with a white F-150 pickup truck heading northbound in the right lane of Unser Boulevard.
The male driver of the Toyota was pronounced deceased on the scene, confirmed officials.
The female driver of the F-150 was transported to an area hospital with injuries considered non-life-threatening.
An investigation remains underway, but authorities said the driver of the F-150 was not speeding or intoxicated at the time of the wreck, and no charges have been filed against her. It remains unclear whether the driver of the Toyota was impaired at the time.
