Wrong-way driver involved in fatal crash on Interstate 40 near Gallup

GALLUP, NM – Authorities were called to the scene of a fatal multi-vehicle crash in McKinley County on Saturday night.

According to a Facebook post by the McKinley County Sheriff’s Office at 10 p.m., the MCSO and New Mexico State Police responded to the wreck on Interstate 40 at the 38.5 mile marker near Gallup.

Preliminary information indicated that a suspected drunk driver was traveling in the wrong direction on I-40 and collided with a semi-truck, which then crashed into another semi. A secondary crash occurred from debris in the roadway.

No details were released on who was killed in the accident, which remains under investigation. One lane was closed in either direction on the interstate.

Accident shuts down westbound Dennis Chavez Boulevard

ALBUQURQUE, NM – Motorists were alerted to a crash disrupting traffic in a portion of Albuquerque late Monday night.

According to a traffic alert from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office at 11:23 p.m., deputies responded to the accident site in the area of Dennis Chavez Boulevard and Atrisco Vista Boulevard. Westbound Dennis Chavez Boulevard was closed while the wreck was being cleared.

Drivers were advised to proceed carefully when traveling through the area. All lanes reopened about 90 minutes later.

Crash reported on Interstate 10 west in Mesquite

MESQUITE, NM – According to NMRoads, a crash was impacting traffic in Dona Ana County during Monday morning’s commute.

An advisory posted at 6:43 a.m. stated that the accident occurred on Interstate 10 westbound at mile marker 151 in Mesquite.

The right driving lane of the interstate was closed while emergency crews responded to the scene.
