SANTA FE, NM – According to KOB, a woman who allegedly faked a kidnapping and led police on a wrong-way chase that ended in a fatal crash on I-25 near Santa Fe is scheduled to begin her trial Wednesday with jury selection.
On Mar. 2, 2022, Jeannine Jaramillo reportedly told police she was kidnapped. Jaramillo was driving south in the northbound lanes of I-25 while being chased by the police when she crashed. Santa Fe Police Officer Robert Duran and retired Las Vegas firefighter Frank Lovato died in the collision.
Authorities determined nobody else was in the car with Jaramillo, and she was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash. They arrested Jaramillo three days after the crash and charged her with felony murder and other charges.
ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A man has pleaded guilty to five counts of reckless driving resulting in great bodily harm for crashing into a school bus near Gibson Blvd SW and Messina Dr SW on Feb. 23, 2022, according to KRQE.
Mario Perez was speeding when he slammed into an Albuquerque Public School bus. The collision caused the bus to roll over onto its side.
First responders transported seven students, the bus driver, and Perez to local hospitals. One student suffered a pelvic fracture and another srudent suffered a femur fracture. Both students required surgery.
Perez could spend up to 15 years in prison for these charges.
NORTH ALBUQUERQUE ACRES, NM – According to BCSO, at least one person died in a wreck at Tramway Blvd NE and Paseo Del Norte Blvd NE on Sunday.
The incident was reported around 2:32 a.m.
Crews shut down the area to process the scene following the collision.
Officials have not provided more details.
