Woman riding scooter killed in collision with vehicle in NE Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A vehicle and an electric scooter were involved in a fatal collision in a parking lot in northeast Albuquerque on Tuesday night, reports KRQE.

The Albuquerque Police Department responded to the lot of an apartment complex on Montgomery Boulevard after the crash was reported shortly before 9:50 p.m. Investigators learned that a woman on an e-scooter with an attached seat was going north and collided with a southbound Chevrolet Malibu.

The scooter rider was pronounced dead at the scene. The Malibu driver remained at the scene and was questioned by investigators.

Crash disrupts traffic on Interstate 40 east of Grants

GRANTS, NM – Emergency crews responded to a crash along Interstate 40 in Cibola County on Wednesday afternoon.

An alert posted on NMRoads shortly before 2 p.m. stated the incident took place on I-40 westbound at mile marker 93, eight miles east of Grants.

The westbound right lane of the interstate was shut down in the area. Motorists were advised to drive with caution, reduce speed, and obey all posted traffic signs.

Driver charged after crashing into New Mexico State Police vehicle

ROSWELL, NM – A New Mexico State Police officer was hurt when a vehicle struck his police unit early Sunday morning, according to a KRQE report.

The NMSP was among the agencies responding to a previous crash involving a tanker truck carrying hazardous material on U.S. 285 near Roswell.

The NMSP officer positioned his patrol vehicle in the northbound lane at about 12:10 a.m. in order to block traffic because the truck accident was blocking both lanes of the roadway.

As the officer was outside his vehicle, he saw another vehicle approaching at a high rate of speed and moved out of the way just before that vehicle struck his patrol car.

The officer suffered injuries that were not life-threatening. His vehicle sustained extensive damage. The driver of the other vehicle, who was not seriously hurt, was charged with reckless driving.
