Woman killed, 2 teens injured when car goes down embankment in Catron County

CATRON COUNTY, NM – A single-vehicle wreck in Catron County Sunday left a woman dead and two teenagers hospitalized, KOAT reported.

The accident took place at about 9:45 a.m. on U.S. Highway 180 between Reserve and Glenwood. The Catron County Sheriff said a driver was heading south when the vehicle veered off the highway and went down an embankment into a canyon.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene. She was identified as 60-year-old Sandra Dixon of Arizona. Two teenagers, ages 15 and 16, were injured and airlifted to UMC El Paso. No details were released on their condition.

Speed was believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash, which shut down U.S. Highway 180 in both directions.

Accident blocks stretch of Interstate 25 in Sierra County

SIERRA COUNTY, NM – Traffic was disrupted for drivers along a stretch of Interstate 25 in Sierra Couty during Thursday morning’s commute due to a crash in the area.

According to an advisory on NMRoads at 8:15 a.m., the accident blocked I-25 southbound from mile marker 75 in Williamsburg to mile marker 76, south of Truth or Consequences.

There was no immediate word on whether anyone had been injured.

Southbound lanes of Coors Boulevard closed due to crash

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of a crash in southwest Albuquerque early Tuesday morning.

In a traffic alert issued shortly after 12:30 a.m., the BCSO said deputies were called to the area of Coors Boulevard SW and Pajarito Road SW.

All southbound lanes of Coors were closed in the area due to the accident investigation. The lanes were reopened about an hour later.
