Woman hit by vehicle while trying to rescue dog in Rio Rancho

RIO RANCHO, NM – Rio Rancho police were called to an accident involving a woman and a dog last week on New Mexico 528, according to the Rio Rancho News.

Police said the woman had been trying to rescue a dog that had been hit by a vehicle on the night of Nov. 21 when she too was struck.

The woman was seriously injured and was later reported to be in stable condition. There were no details available on the dog’s condition.

Southbound New Mexico 528 was blocked off for the crash response and investigation before reopening later in the evening. Police were investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Crash reduces eastbound Interstate 40 to one lane

BERNALILLO COUNTY, NM – A crash disrupted traffic along a portion of Interstate 40 in Bernalillo County on Saturday afternoon.

According to a traffic alert from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office at 1:02 p.m., I-40 eastbound was reduced to one lane at the 172 mile marker whle the accident was being cleared from the roadway. No injuries were reported.

The sheriff’s office released an update a short time later stating that all lanes had been reopened.

Crews respond to rollover accident in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Police and first responders were dispatched to the scene of an accident in Albuquerque on Monday morning.

An advisory from APD Traffic at 7:36 a.m. reported that the incident was a rollover crash. It happened in the area of Interstate 40 westbound and Rio Grande Boulevard.

The Albuquerque Police Department and Albuquerque Fire Rescue responded to the site. There was no immediate word on whether anyone had been injured.
