ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A woman was killed early Sunday in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on Interstate 40 near northwest Albuquerque, reports KRQE.
The fatal incident took place on the westbound exit ramp to Coors Boulevard Northwest (New Mexico State Road 45), in the city’s West Bluff neighborhood. Albuquerque Police responded to the scene shortly after 1:30 a.m.
Details remain limited at this time, but authorities said the woman had been walking on the interstate when she was struck.
Officials said the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver, who fled the scene after the crash, has not been identified or located as of this writing. A description of the suspect vehicle has not been released to the public.
An investigation remains ongoing.
