Woman dies after being hit by vehicle near Las Cruces Target

LAS CRUCES, NM — A 70-year-old woman was fatally injured in a pedestrian crash Wednesday morning near a Las Cruces Target store, reports KFOX14.

Las Cruces Police responded to the scene in the parking lot at 2541 East Lohman Avenue, shortly after 10:00 a.m.

According to officials, the woman was traveling westbound on foot across the lot when she was struck by a black Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Passersby tended to the victim before police and fire crews arrived on the scene.

The patient suffered critical injuries and was rushed to Mountainview Regional Medical Center. Authorities said she was later pronounced deceased.

The driver, a 52-year-old woman, remained at the site of the crash and cooperated with an investigation. She was not suspected of intoxication.
