Victim of fatal wreck on Interstate 25 identified as Santa Fe man

SANTA FE, NM – The Santa Fe Police Department released an update on Sunday’s fatal crash on Interstate 25 southbound.

Police said they have identified the man killed in the wreck as 36-year-old Daniel Mendoza of Santa Fe. Officers responded to I-25 south near the exit for St. Francis Drive after being notified of the accident at about 4:15 p.m.

They found Mendoza dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved.

The scene was processed for evidence by the department’s Traffic Unit and Crime Scene Unit, and an investigation into the crash is continuing.

Interstate 40 reduced to one lane near Zuzax due to crash

BERNALILLO COUNTY, NM – Traffic was restricted along a portion of Interstate 40 in Bernalillo County Thursday night due to a crash.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office issued an alert regarding the incident at about 7 p.m. The BCSO said westbound I-40 was reduced to one lane near Zuzax while the roadway was being cleared.

There were no major injuries to report. The interstate was reopened to traffic about 90 minutes later.

Accident snarls traffic on I-40 eastbound near Big I

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – An accident snarled traffic for drivers in Albuquerque during Friday morning’s commute.

According to an advisory on NMRoads at about 7 a.m., the crash happened on Interstate 40 eastbound at mile marker 159. The left and right lanes were closed on I-40 at the Big I.

Drivers were advised to expect heavy delays while emergency crews were responding to the wreck.
