Victim of fatal pedestrian crash identified as Hobbs woman

LAS CRUCES, NM – Officials said they have now identified the victim of a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred in Las Cruces on Monday night.

According to the City of Las Cruces, the person who died was 54-year-old Charlotte M. Bates of Hobbs, N.M.

Las Cruces police were dispatched to the crash, near the 500 block of south Telshor Boulevard, just before 10 p.m. Officers learned that a Ford F-150 pickup truck struck a woman in a northbound lane of traffic.

Bates was pronounced dead after being transported to Memorial Medical Center. Investigators determined that she was walking east-to-west across Telshor and was not in a marked crosswalk when the collision happened.

The driver of the pickup, a 55-year-old woman, remained on the scene and was cooperative with police. No charges are anticipated in the incident.

Person struck, killed by car while trying to cross Interstate 40

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A pedestrian was killed in an accident on Interstate 40 in Albuquerque late Sunday night, KOAT reported.

The victim was attempting to cross I-40 near University Boulevard shortly before 11 p.m. when they were hit by a car, according to New Mexico State Police. The person’s identity was not immediately released.

Westbound I-40 was shut down at the Big I for several hours during the crash response and investigation. Drivers were diverted onto northbound and southbound Interstate 25.

Crash involving semi closes I-40 west near Route 66 casino

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A crash involving a semi-truck shut down a stretch of Interstate 40 in Albuquerque on Thursday evening.

In a traffic advisory at 6:19 p.m., the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office stated that the accident took place on I-40 westbound near the Route 66 Casino. Drivers were advised to expect delays in the area.

The BCSO released an update at 8:41 p.m. saying that all lanes were back open. There were no reports of injuries.
