Victim identified in fatal Rio Rancho dirt bike collision

RIO RANCHO, NM – The victim of a fatal dirt bike collision in Rio Rancho earlier this month has been identified, according to the Rio Rancho Observer.

The man killed in the Feb. 2 incident on New Mexico 528 near Hilltop Plaza was Patrick Barlow, age 19 or 20, of Rio Rancho, the report said.

Police narratives stated that a driver was headed southbound on NM 528 in the left turn bay when she stopped, then proceeded across the northbound lanes of traffic with a green light.

The driver told police that she did not see the fast-approaching motorcycle in the northbound lanes until she was crossing the third lane, and the vehicles collided.

Barlow died at the scene while the other driver was taken to the hospital. It was reported that Barlow was not wearing a helmet at the time of the fatal crash.

Lane closed on I-25 south due to crash in cable barrier

TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES, NM – An accident closed a stretch of Interstate 25 in Sierra County on Wednesday afternoon.

According to an advisory from NMRoads at 2:42 p.m., the passing left lane of I-25 south of Truth or Consequences was shut down due to a crash in the cable barrier.

The interstate was blocked from mile marker 72 to mile marker 70 while emergency crews responded to the wreck.

Rollover accident slows traffic on I-40 in McKinley County

MCKINLEY COUNTY, NM – Authorities were dispatched to a rollover crash on Interstate 40 in McKinley County early Monday morning.

The McKinley County Sheriff’s Office reported that the single-vehicle wreck took place on eastbound I-40 near the 28-mile marker just before Firerock. One lane was open while the MCSO and New Mexico State Police responded to the scene.

Traffic was moving slowly through the area and drivers were urged to use caution. Both lanes were reported to have reopened by 5:30 a.m. There was no immediate word on whether anyone had been injured.
