Vehicle fire shuts down I-40 in SW Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – All lanes on I-40 were shut down following a collision in southwest Albuquerque yesterday.

According to Total Traffic Albuquerque, the crash took place shortly after 4:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of the freeway near the exit to Route 66.

The circumstances leading up to the crash are not mentioned in the report. However, all lanes were shut down for some time afterward while crews worked to extinguish the fire and clear the roadway.

We do not know at this time if anyone was injured in the crash.
