ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A 21-year-old man died early Friday after a two-vehicle wreck with a suspected intoxicated driver in northeast Albuquerque, reports KRQE.
The fatal accident happened at Osuna Road Northeast and Wyoming Road Northeast, near Arroyo del Oso Park, shortly after midnight.
An early investigation shows the young man was driving a gray Toyota Sequoia northbound on Wyoming Road when his car was hit by a red 2020 Challenger heading eastbound on Osuna Road.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene, confirmed authorities.
Albuquerque Police said the driver of the Challenger, which did not have its headlights on at the time, ran a red light prior to the crash. Speed and alcohol are both suspected to have contributed to the collision.
The suspect, who was taken to a hospital with undisclosed injuries, faces charges and will be booked into jail upon his medical release.
