ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A 31-year-old man was identified as the motorcyclist who died after a crash last Tuesday on Interstate 40 in Albuquerque, reports KRQE.
The multi-vehicle accident occurred on the eastbound lanes before Carlisle Boulevard Northeast on August 23, shortly before 9:31 p.m.
An early investigation by New Mexico State Police indicates the motorcyclist rear-ended a tractor-trailer and hit another vehicle as he tried to pass both in between two lanes.
Officials said the rider was thrown from his bike in the impact of the crash. He suffered serious injuries and was pronounced deceased a the scene.
No injuries to the other drivers and passengers were reported.
An investigation was underway, but speed appears to have contributed to the fatal wreck. NMSP said alcohol is not a suspected factor, and noted the rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
