ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A man died Monday after a hit-and-run collision in Albuquerque’s Clayton Heights-Lomas Del Cielo neighborhood, reports KOAT.

Albuquerque Police responded to the scene near 917 Wilmoore Drive Southeast, east of Central New Mexico Community College.

According to officials, a woman was driving a red Chrysler PT Cruiser in the area when she made an out-of-control turn on a corner. The Chrysler struck the man, who was doing maintenance work on his car. The impact of the crash also sent the victim crashing into his own vehicle.

First responders transported the man to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The driver, who fled the scene without stopping, was later identified. Police said charges are expected to be filed against her.
