ALBUQUERQUE, NM – One man is dead and another is under arrest after a fatal pedestrian collision in Albuquerque on Thursday evening.
According to a KOB report, the victim was identified as Alec Montoya, an employee with UNM Hospital. Albuquerque police said Montoya was crossing north across Lomas Boulevard at Stanford Drive outside the hospital at about 6:45 p.m. when he was hit by a Honda Accord that was traveling at a high rate of speed. Montoya died at the scene.
Police said the driver, identified as 42-year-old Brian Boyce, stopped but then fled the scene on foot. He was later arrested at his home and charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing great bodily harm. He is expected to face additional charges.
ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A pedestrian died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in northwest Albuquerque early Monday morning, the Albuquerque Journal reported.
The incident took place in the area of La Poblana Road and 12th Street. Police officers arrived to find a man lying on the side of the road who had been hit by a vehicle. The victim died at the scene.
The Albuquerque Police Department said the pedestrian was struck on 12th Street by a northbound blue Ford truck whose driver left the scene of the crash.
Police said the vehicle they are looking for will have damage to the front and passenger side, including a missing portion of the front bumper and a missing front headlamp on the passenger side.
FARMINGTON, NM – Police in Farmington released video of a crash involving two drivers who were street racing, according to KOB.
The incident took place Sept. 26 on 12th Street. Police said one of the drivers took off when officers tried to pull him over. During a pursuit captured on the video, the man drove off the road and struck a parked car, causing his vehicle to roll over and catch fire. One passenger was seen being pulled from the vehicle.
One of the street racing drivers, identified as 22-year-old Kalynn Kenworthy, was taken into custody to face charges for racing on highways.
