Two-vehicle wreck blocks part of NM-528 near NE Rio Rancho

SANDOVAL COUNTY, NM — Multiple emergency crews responded to a crash Friday afternoon on New Mexico State Road 528 near northeast Rio Rancho, reports Rio Rancho Observer.

The accident happened at Northern Boulevard Northeast, in the city’s Industrial Park neighborhood, during rush hour traffic.

Authorities have not disclosed details on the cause of the crash, but two vehicles were involved. Photos shared by Rio Rancho Observer show a black pickup truck and a dark red SUV with visible front-end damage.

Rio Rancho Police officers responded to the scene along with fire crews and medics, but it was unclear whether anyone was injured.

The intersection was blocked in the aftermath, creating a traffic backup in the area.
