ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A man and a woman have both died following a rollover crash Monday night on Interstate 25, south of downtown Albuquerque, according to KRQE.

New Mexico State Police responded to the scene on the southbound interstate near mile marker 223, in the city’s South Broadway neighborhood.

At about 8:34 p.m., both victims were traveling in a 2017 Dodge Durango SUV when its driver failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The SUV then hit a concrete barrier, causing it to roll over.

Officials said both occupants, who were not wearing their seat belts properly, were ejected in the crash.

The patients were transported to UNM Hospital, where the woman was pronounced deceased the same night. On Tuesday, the man also succumbed to his injuries. Both victims were 29 years old.

No further details have been shared at this time, but investigators said alcohol did not contribute to the fatal crash.
