CLOVIS, NM – A fiery truck collision closed down a portion of a Curry County highway last week, according to the Eastern New Mexico News.
The wreck happened Tuesday night on U.S. 60-84 near Cannon Air Force Base. Authorities said two trucks collided after one of the vehicles was trying to back onto the highway from the Curry Road railroad crossing at about 9:15 p.m. Both trucks caught fire, but no injuries were reported and no other vehicles were involved.
U.S. 60-84 was closed in both directions for about eight hours while the accident was being cleared, and reopened to traffic at about 5:45 a.m. Wednesday.
ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A multi-vehicle accident disrupted traffic in a portion of Albuquerque late Sunday night, the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office said.
A traffic alert posted by the BCSO at 10:51 p.m. stated that the crash shut down northbound Broadway Boulevard at Desert Road. No major injuries were reported. There was no immediate word on what led to the collision.
Drivers were advised to use Interstate 25 as an alternative route until the scene could be cleared.
LAS CRUCES, NM – Police arrested a suspected drunk driver after her vehicle had been involved in two separate crashes in Las Cruces last week, KFOX reported.
26-year-old Desirae Leonor Martinez-Aguirre is facing multiple charges, including aggravated DWI, reckless driving, and leaving the scene. in connection with the Sept. 28 incident
Police said a person driving Martinez-Aguirre’s pickup truck was involved in a collision after leaving the FairGrounds in Las Cruces, and that Martinez-Aguirre jumped into the driver’s seat and left the scene. She was then allegedly involved in another hit-and-run crash at Mountain Vista and Crawford Boulevard. A New Mexico State Police Officer arrested her shortly after midnight.
According to the arrest report, the NMSP officer said the woman’s breath smelled of alcohol and that she admitted to drinking that night.
