ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A man died Sunday after being struck and run over by a semi-truck while working at a truck stop in northeast Albuquerque, according to KOAT.
According to a news release from the Albuquerque Police Department, the fatal incident took place at the TA Travel Center truck stop along University Boulevard Northeast.
An early investigation indicates that the victim, an employee at the business, was walking up to the drivers of two commercial semi-trucks that were parked together to request that they move the vehicles to another area of the parking lot.
Moments after asking one driver to move their semi, the trailer of that vehicle hit the worker while he was on his way to approach the second semi. Authorities said the first semi, which was already in a forward motion, dragged the worker a short distance after he fell under the vehicle’s tires.
The victim, who suffered fatal injuries, was pronounced deceased by first responders at the scene.
No further information has been made available at this time, and it’s unclear whether any charges are expected to be filed.
