Truck driver dies following rollover accident in Las Cruces

LAS CRUCES, NM – Police are investigating a fatal rollover crash that occurred Friday night in Las Cruces.

According to a Facebook post from the Las Cruces Police Department, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Northrise Drive and Avenida Carmen after the single-vehicle accident was reported at about 9:15 p.m.

They arrived to find that a white Ford work truck had rolled over. The driver, identified as 49-year-old Ismael Galvan of Las Cruces, was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was in the vehicle.

No details were released on the circumstances that led to the wreck.

Semi-truck and car involved in collision on U.S. Highway 380

CHAVES COUNTY, NM – A semi-truck and a car were involved in a collision on U.S. Highway 380 in Chaves County, the Chaves County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Deputies responded to milepost 182 on April 12 at about 3:20 a.m. after the semi driver called dispatch to say he had been in a crash with the car but was not able to check on the other driver. The driver of the car then called dispatch and said he believed he was ok.

The responding deputies learned that the semi driver was able to drive onto the shoulder to avoid a head-on collision. A review of the truck’s dash camera indicated that the accident happened after the car drifted into the semi’s lane.

Fatal truck crash shuts down stretch of Interstate 40

ZUZAX, NM – The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office was on the scene of a fatal truck crash on Interstate 40 on Sunday night.

According to an advisory from the BCSO at 8:51 p.m., the accident closed westbound I-40 at Zuzax. KOAT reported that the victim was driving a pickup truck with a flatbed, but no further details were released on the circumstances that led to the incident.

The interstate was shut down for nearly ten hours during the accident response and investigation, reopening at about 4:45 a.m. on Monday. Drivers were advised to use New Mexico 333 as an alternate route.
