Troopers investigate fatal 3-semi-truck crash on Interstate 40 near Tucumcari

TUCUMCARI, NM – According to KOB, the New Mexico State Police is investigating a deadly multi-semi-truck collision on Interstate 40 near Tucumcari that occurred Sunday morning.

A semi-truck driver was heading east on Interstate 40 when they strayed off the road, overcorrected, and overturned around 5 a.m. A second semi-truck driver tried to avoid hitting the first truck and flipped. The third semi-truck driver slammed into the first truck.

First responders transported all three drivers to the hospital, where the driver of the third truck died. The other two drivers suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials have not released the victims’ names.

Passenger dies following semi-truck crash on Interstate 40 near Tucumcari

TUCUMCARI, NM – A passenger was killed in a fatal semi-truck collision on Interstate 40 near Tucumcari Sunday morning, according to KOB.

A semi-truck driver slammed into a patrol unit around 8:30 at the scene of an earlier semi-truck crash that morning. The semi-truck went onto the shoulder and overturned after hitting the patrol unit.

First responders pronounced a passenger in the semi-truck dead at the scene. The semi-truck driver and the officer were hospitalized.

The New Mexico State Police are investigating the incident.

Auto accident disrupts traffic on Interstate 40 in Colonias

COLONIAS, NM – According to NMRoads, a crash on Interstate 40 in Colonias blocked traffic Wednesday morning.

Emergency crews were called to Interstate 40 near mile marker 267 around 6:36 a.m.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
