Trial begins for woman accused of hitting and killing 2 people on I-25 near Santa Fe

SANTA FE, NM – According to KOAT, the opening statements for the trial of the woman suspected of hitting and killing two people near Santa Fe on March 2, 2022, have begun.

Jeannine Jaramillo allegedly asked someone to call 911, saying her boyfriend was holding her at knifepoint in a car. Authorities located the car and began pursuing the vehicle in the wrong direction.

Police eventually caught up to Jaramillo, who had crashed on the side of I-25. Authorities found Jaramillo was the only occupant of the car.

Frank Lovato, a retired Las Vegas firefighter, collided head-on with Santa Fe Police Officer Robert Duran as he was pursuing Jaramillo. They both died in the collision.

Authorities charged Jaramillo with two counts of first-degree murder. She has pleaded not-guilty.

Hit-and-run driver fatally collides with pedestrian in Bernalillo

BERNALILLO, NM – A hit-and-run driver struck and killed a person on Avenida Bernalillo on Nov. 29, according to KOB.

Authorities believe the driver of a red 2019-24 Ram 1500 pickup truck was heading east when they collided with a juvenile around 12:48 a.m.

Wreck reported in south Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – According to BCSO, a crash was reported on the I-25 NB on-ramp at NM 47 on Saturday.

The incident happened around 8:32 a.m.

It is unclear if anyone was hurt in the collision.
