Teenager charged with DWI after collision with Albuquerque city bus

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Police arrested an alleged drunk driver following an accident in Albuquerque on Saturday, KRQE reported.

The incident occurred in the area of Central Avenue and 63rd Street. A criminal complaint states that 18-year-old Savanna Tafoya made an illegal U-turn on Central Avenue and caused a collision with an Albuquerque city bus. No injuries were reported.

Police said Tafoya fled the scene of the crash and was later arrested. She faces several charges, including leaving the scene of an accident and DWI. She was reported to have smelled of alcohol, according to police.

Though Tafoya claimed the bus driver told her to leave the scene, a spokesperson for the City of Albuquerque told KRQE the bus driver did not speak to the woman, and followed protocol in the incident.

Accident shuts down portion of New Mexico 516

SAN JUAN COUNTY, NM – An accident disrupted traffic for drivers in an area of San Juan County on Thursday evening.

According to an alert from NMRoads at 6:42 p.m., the crash happened along New Mexico 516 at West Main Street, closing the westbound portion of the highway from mile marker 4 to mile marker 3.

Emergency services crews were at the scene working to clear the wreck.

Semi crashes, catches fire on U.S. 64 in San Juan County

WATERFLOW, NM – Authorities were called to a fiery truck crash on Highway 64 in San Juan County on Saturday afternoon.

The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office reported that a semi hauling diesel crashed and caught fire at mile marker 33 near Circle W Pawn, west of Waterflow.

The highway was shut down in both directions and drivers were urged to seek alternate routes. The sheriff’s office issued an update at about 10 p.m. stating that both directions of traffic had been reopened. There were no reports of injuries.
