Teenage driver charged in connection with deadly accident in Santa Fe

SANTA FE, NM – An arrest has been made after an accident that killed a teenager in Santa Fe County earlier this month, according to KOAT.

The incident took place March 7 near the intersection of Southford Road and Cedar Road in the San Marcos area. The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office said a 16-year-old driver was unable to negotiate a curve in that area and the vehicle crashed. A 15-year-old passenger was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene.

 The driver has now been charged with homicide by vehicle and possession of open containers in a vehicle. Additional charges could be filed.

Eastbound Bridge Boulevard reduced to one lane due to crash

SOUTH VALLEY, NM – The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office issued a traffic alert late Monday night following an accident in the South Valley.

The notification at 10:06 p.m. stated that eastbound Bridge Boulevard SW was reduced to one lane at Sunset Road SW due to the crash. No major injuries were reported.

Truck crash, fire closes stretch of I-10 east of Deming

DEMING, NM – An accident was reported to be affecting traffic in a section of Luna County on Tuesday morning.

An advisory on NMRoads at 9:35 a.m. stated that a crash and truck fire occurred on Interstate 10 westbound at mile marker 98, 13 miles east of Deming.

The driving right lane was closed to traffic while emergency crews responded to the incident.
